National Military Appreciation Month

National Military Appreciation Month

Posted by admin on 28th May 2015

Though it’s important to honor and remember year round, this is a month to make a special point to do so. May was specifically chosen because it holds the largest number of militarily significant days: Loyalty Day (1st), Victory in Europe Day (8th), Armed Forces Day (16th), Military Spouse Appreciation Day (Friday before Mother’s Day), and Memorial Day (last Monday of May). During this month, make a special point to thank someone in service or who has served. Thank them for fighting for your freedom. Honor someone’s memory by performing an act of kindness. Find some way to celebrate National Military Appreciation month.

The Honor and Remember flag was created as a way to have a way to do something special for those who have lost their lives fighting for our country. While it is appropriate to fly it year round, respecting flag etiquette, it is especially prudent to fly it this month, as an extra way to acknowledge and appreciate all the sacrifices made by those in service.
